We are foolhardy dreamers, critical thinkers and tenacious makers. We dream and we do.

John Zajac

Executive Director + co-founder

John co-founded Isinglass in 2012 to provide strategic problem solving services to the performing arts industry. After graduating from Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music with a double degree in Stage Directing and Opera Performance, he moved to Chicago to develop and produce original work in the city's thriving blackbox theatre scene. While there, he started his career in design and advertising, working for some of the most iconic brands in the world, including Xbox One, Proctor and Gamble, Samsung, MacDonald's, Microsoft and Amazon. Upon moving to Portland, John engaged the professional theatre and theatre education communities to help them innovate new ways to build a sustainable arts ecosystem in the city, creating the Egg Theater Leadership Academy to activate student leaders in public high schools as advocates for their art form.
